As stated, the effect looks cool, but there are a few things you should know:1.The ball - The ball is pretty small. If your child is 10 or over, it's probably too small for them to throw well if they know how to properly throw a football. The reflective strips are on the side of the ball. If you throw a perfect spiral right at your target, it becomes near invisible. Effectively, you have to deliberately throw a wobbly pass to see the ball well. Admittedly, this still looks pretty cool. Finally, the reflective strips are just glued onto the ball. Ours are holding up fine so far, but I don't see them standing up to long term use.2. The glasses - As other users have stated, you must be wearing the glasses for this to work, and it only comes with two, but you can buy extras. The color of the ball depends on which glasses you are wearing, which is kind of cool. The effect that allows you to see the ball at night works on any reflective surface, which can be distracting at times. I think the worst part of this design is that the light beams that reflect of the ball are shining right at the other player's face. You must look (at least slightly) away from the person to whom you are throwing the ball or else you'll be blinded by the light coming from their glasses. Finally, the glasses don't fold, which makes storage more of an issue than it should be.3. Recommendation - While the effect itself is really cool (provided that you deliberately throw a poor pass to make the ball wobble), I can't recommend this ball for nighttime play. I only gave this product three stars because the description is at least pretty honest about what you are getting. Still, the ball is too small and the issues with the glasses add up. Look for a ball that actually lights up or glows. When I find one, I'll add that to this review. My kids and I play catch with this quite often. It’s a nice ball, but it would be nicer if it had a better grip! It tends to slip out of your hand every other throw or so! But still a nice and fun ballNifty football that actually appears to "light up" in the dark, as long as you are wearing the lighted eyewear things. Now we have not had a chance yet to take it outside when it is getting darker (cold weather and snow in Montana), but we did toss it a few times in the house. We turned off the lights at night, and did a few close tosses. If it works outside with longer passes, that's when I will rank it 5 stars. The football and eyewear lights appear to be made fairly good, so I don't see us having quality issues.Kids like it.... BUT, actually the reflective stripes are most visible on the side.... so as the ball is coming in, there's very little reflection bouncing back towards the catcher. Cool concept, bad implementation. Now, I had some unused reflective stickers (they come each year with the Texas Registration renewal), so I cut those up into stripes and affixed them all close to the end points. NOW it works much better, with much more bounce back to the catcher.BEWARE, the lenses are NOT very robust... On one of the kids they just slipped off his nose, and just that short drop to the ground killed the lights. I had to mess with them for a while to make them come back on..My 7 year old thought this was one of his top Xmas gifts. It has this reflective tape on the ball itself and then some little "glasses" (there's no actual glass covering their eyes, just a frame) with a light on top. One person has green and one read. Night vision glasses for football? What could be more fun for a 7 year old? The price is right to make a great birthday gift too. The ball itself is a bit harder than a traditional nerf football. Makes it a tiny bit harder to catch, but it does make it feel more like a real football. Also would be fine for throwing around during the day.I bought this football for my eight year old son. It is lightweight and durable; it comes with one green and one red Nerf Firevision Fire Frames. I bought an extra set of frames so four could play football at dusk and beyond. You can clearly see the football. Red and green can have their own teams and the light is strong enough to see the football from far away. I was worried that we'd lose the football in the dark if it was not caught, but it's no problem at all. The only thing you have to get used to is that it is a little hard to judge depth in the beginning.I highly recommend this for anybody who enjoys football. The "firevision" component isn't anything all that special, but I'm an adult and got this model Nerf because it was actually cheaper than the regular one! Maybe if I was a kid I'd be more excited about it. We use it to throw around while in the water in back of our home. Doesn't get as waterlogged as some older version Nerfs I recall from past use.WOW! This was a huge hit when I had it sent to my son away at camp! He and his friends loved that the ball was "invisible" in the dark to anyone not wearing the included glasses. The ball comes with two (2) pairs for "magic glasses" and when I noticed that it would be nearly as expensive to buy 2 additional pairs of glasses so more kids could play at once, I simply opted for sending two complete sets to the camp. Well received and a LOT of value compared to other "once and done" glow products!i love the idea, but the title should be american football or not a soccer ball, other than that, the teenagers love the concept, so we are keeping it, but please make a soccer ball as well, great toy & the have stopped sitting in front of the computer & games machine, so must be good for dark evening :)
