I'm a few chapters into this book and I have greatly enjoyed it! As an exercise scientist and an instructor who has a passion for delving into the research on subject matters relating to nutrition, exercise, etc, the authors delivered on what I desire; science based and digestible content. That being said, the book doesn't just blandly tell you random factoids about how nutrition, supplements, metabolism work like many other books. Instead, the authors give physiological breakdowns on how processes work, in addition to reviewing literature over the subject matter at hand, followed by practical applications, and more! Lucky to have this book to add to my arsenal! I would warn that one may struggle with this book if they do not have a basic understanding of basic physiology, as it is a pretty advanced book.Good info of course, but some chapters have multiple typos/errors that a published book, especially of such a cost, shouldn’t have.In all the nutrition texts I've read, which have been several in both my undergraduate, graduate degrees and other college certification programs this text is by far the worst. It is incredibly biased and uses studies that other researchers have called into question regarding their validity. It appears as if the authors already had their minds made up in terms of what they believed and then chose studies to help them back up their opinions instead of presenting data and research in an unbiased way. Bias in one chapter can make a reader question everything else stated. If you are looking for a text to use in your classes, keep looking.Very dry text with minimal graphics. The information is great though.. you just have to slug through it a bit.Well scienced!I had the fortune to be a co-author with Ben Esgro of the Creatine chapter in this amazing book. This book pulls together the most cutting edge data in sports nutrition and ergogenics from the brightest minds in the field. Paul Cribb PhD FISSN, Hector Lopez MD, CSCS, Darryn Willoughby PhD FISSN, Ralf Jaeger PhD FISSN, Susan Kleiner PhD RD FISSN, Jacob Wilson PhD, Colin Wilborn PhD FISSN, Shawn Wells MPH RD CISSN, Dawn Anderson PhD, and Tim Ziegenfuss PhD FISSN. An insane list of who's who in sports nutrition and ergogenic aids. If you're studying for the CISSN, in the ISSN, NSCA, ACSM, or other organizations involved in human performance you owe it to yourself to get the best book on this topic in the world. Period.
