Edit:Over 6 months in and I still love these shoes. They are my daily drivers. I haven't adjusted the laces at all in months. They just slip on. I've taken them on multi-day hiking trips. I've worn them to weddings. I've taken them to the beach (sand was annoying as predicted), the mall, long walks of over 10 miles, the list goes on. They have traveled the nation with me (we'll do some international travel soon). My only real complaint about them long term has been that once the temperature falls below about 30 degrees, they aren't really feasible for long term outdoor usage. That hasn't stopped me from visiting colder climates (I was outside in 5 degrees F in Minnesota while photographing the Mercury transit across the sun). But I wasn't outside for more than 20 minutes at a time.Original Review:I backed the Travel Feels shoes on Kickstarter then went off on a grand adventure to see if someone else had made a shoe that handles water, urban, and hiking environments equally as well. Originally, I landed on some shoes from Underarmor which were great except that they were SUPER narrow in the foot-box. I have "Size D" width feet which most normal shoes fit, but the under armor shoes did NOT fit.So along come these shoes as a suggestion on Amazon. I realized that Salomon had a whole line of "Amphib" shoes. Many had good reviews but these Bold ones appear to be a new addition and I couldn't find any information at all on them. So I risked it all and purchased them. They run a bit small. I wear the XA 3D Pro in size 13, these are best in size 12 (US sizes) which fit me perfectly.Pros: - Mesh upper handles water well. - Super light - Excellent protection - The tread is glorious -- I went down a 30% grade hill with leaves and never lost my footing once (disc golf malfunction XD). My children were like on a slip'n'slide with their Walmart shoes. - They hug my feet well, but I can slip them on quite easily. No more dealing with laces. If I want to run or do some heavy sports I can pull the laces tighter, but for the most part I've been leaving them loose. - They look great. Black and white is fantastic.Cons: - If it rains your feet are going to get wet. They provide zero protection from liquids coming from above. And if you step in water higher than the sole then your feet are going to get wet. This is by design, though. So not REALLY a con. - The sole is the same material as my XA 3D Pros. Fantastic on all surfaces except pavement which will wear it out super fast. I expect I'm going to go through these shoes fast since I do a lot of walking around town. It is the price you pay for traction. - I'll probably need an alternative in snowy environments. I expect with the right socks I could handle cold just fine, but if snow gets in there I'm done for. - Sand is going to be a bear. The mesh upper will likely let sand in, and there is no way for it to get back out since the sole is solid. I won't likely be trying these at the beach anytime soon. They're better in the woods hiking around streams / lakes or the pool.I highly recommend these shoes. They are great "urban shoes" that can handle hiking and casual trips to the pool, rivers, or lakes.
