As an infrequent sports bettor, I've often been left scarred and wounded by my experiences, but my losses haven't dissipated my enthusiasm for sports betting. So, I was fascinated by the Z-Code system when I first heard of it. A couple of my friends have made big profits using this system to place their bets. This book, Z-Code Sports Investing Bible, written by Trey Richards and a team of Z-Code system's expert handicappers, explains why this is so.For the first clue, notice the word “investing”, rather than “betting”. Z-Code system invests, rather than gamble with your money. There is no room for thrill seekers here. These guys are serious professionals. The writer talks of the psychology and thinking of a successful sports bettor – conservative and consistent. A detailed spreadsheet based money management plan is discussed. The expert handicappers elaborate at length on 5 expert systems from Z-Code, including the highly popular Z-Code Oscillator. These make for heavy and intense reading, but well worth the effort, considering the potential rewards of mastering them. But what I personally really liked most about the book was the chapter on 9 common myths and mistakes made by sports bettors – which explains my own abysmal performance so far. I conclude the review by discussing the wisdom gained by me from this chapter.1.Win Rates – According to the writers, high win rate is a scam used by handicappers to lure susceptible bettors. The writers explain this with concrete examples why a high win rate doesn't always mean high profit.2.Short term goals vs Long term goals – Chose the latter. All or nothing never works.3.The “fix” - forget about it. No longer an issue in professional sports where athletes get incredibly huge salaries. Same goes for “inside information”.4.Never mind day-to-day losses. Look at the larger picture.5.Beating the bookie – never happens. Don't even attempt it. All the odds are in the bookie's favor.6.Never follow the sportsbook favorites – they win only 56% of the time. You end up losing money.7.Get a professional handicapping service to help you. To be successful in sports betting you need a massive investment of time and effort – which you probably wont have. Hire the experts.8.It's sports investing – not gambling. Remember that.9.Robotic or Fully Automated Betting – is guaranteed to fail. While computer algorithms have a very important role in sports betting, they need a human expert to filter and evaluate the results to be used successfully.10.Never trust trends – they may always be easily manipulated.
